Jing Lee is a proud South Australian and a passionate advocate for community development, cultural respect, economic prosperity and inclusive leadership. Through her new platform, Jing Lee – Better Community, Jing continues a lifelong commitment to uplifting people from all walks of life - individuals, families, volunteers, and communities - by listening deeply, putting community first, and serving with purpose and integrity.

Born in Malaysia and migrating to South Australia in 1979, Jing’s journey has been shaped by lived experience, gratitude, and a belief in the power of community. She made history in 2010 as the first Malaysian-born Member of the South Australian Parliament, and over the past 15 years has built a reputation for grassroots community engagement, tireless advocacy, and genuine care for the people she serves.

Jing’s work is grounded in values that transcend politics: respect, trust, and service. Whether its supporting multicultural communities, connecting with small businesses, or helping local organisations thrive, she brings people together with empathy and purpose. Her new platform, Jing Lee – Better Community, reflects a renewed focus on what matters most - building a South Australia where everyone feels heard, valued, and empowered to contribute.

At events like the Walk for Respect, Jing stands not as a politician, but as a sister, a neighbour, a friend, and a fellow community member. Her message is simple and enduring: when we walk together, we build a better and safer future - one step, one story, one connection at a time.

Join Jing and the Better Community team and walk with us to say NO to Domestic Violence but YES to respect, YES to inclusion, and YES to a South Australia where everyone belongs.
