Friday 17 November saw hundreds of walkers unite in Mildura in a Walk for Respect organised by the Mildura Regional City Council and White Ribbon Australia.
Starting from Langtree Mall in the centre of Mildura, the walk meandered about 1km along Feast Street, across the Langtree Riverfront Connection to finish on Powerhouse Place on the Mildura Riverfront.
Members from the Rotary Club of Mildura-Deakin were keen to be a part of this united community walking to say NO to Domestic Violence.
It was a delight to see the whole student base of 30 children from Werrimul School come in to Mildura by bus from 65kms away to participate.
The walk was led by Conor Pall who is a local boy and a family violence survivor. Conor has achieved some amazing things and has also just released a book about domestic violence called the Shadow that Follows.
Being the youngest member to be appointed to the Victorian Victim Survivor's Advisory Council, he is using his experiences to influence change in the way children and young people are seen as victim-survivors in their own right.
Hailing from Mildura, Conor was recognised for his commitment to the space when presented with a Victorian Young Achiever of the Year Award in 2022 and has successfully evoked reform within the heart of the state’s justice system. Conor continues to advocate for a stand-alone family violence service for children and young people.
